Green Country Fly Fishers Monthly Meeting 01/7/2014


Meeting called to order at 7:05 by Richard Johnson

Guests were David and Jody Lane. There were 22 members and 1 quest present.

Business meeting:

Minutes from Nov meeting read by Gary Kilpatrick.  

Minutes were approved as read


Treasurer’s report was read and approved.  Our current balance is $2,232.13.


Gary reported that the cost of the Christmas dinner at Hillcrest was $1,200. We collected $1,000 from members and made approximately $300 on the silent auction. Bob and Sylvia Cunningham recommended that we have the dinner at Hillcrest next year.  Members agreed. 


Bruce Keen reported that the fly fishing school is being held at the Adult Center in Dewey. It will begin on Feb 6 and end on Mar 11. Casting will be in the Dewey High School girl’s gym.  Full casting will begin in the third meeting.  They will need volunteers for tying demonstration and casting. It will be every Tue and Thu night from 7:00 to 9:00.  Wes said that the Lions club also meets there on Thu. Bruce will check to make sure there is no conflict.  Publication is going well.  There was an article in the Tulsa World and it is supposed be on Cable One’s channel 16 starting on 1/8.  It will also be in the Examiner Enterprise. 

Saturday coffee and tying will at Bambinos on Saturday Jan 25th. It will continue on the 2nd and 4th Saturday until it is warm enough to fish.  

The Fly Tying Extravaganza will be at Creek County Fairgrounds in Kelleyville, Ok on Jan 11th beginning at 9:00AM.  Gene Holland will be conducting a casting clinic there.  

Jonathon Dancer is still working on a revised logo to put on the fly boxes we are presenting to CFR.  

Dayna Hayes is still  in therapy from her stroke.  She expects to be released to go home soon. 

Larry Johnson presented the outings committee recommendations for 2014.

May – Open

7 Jun – Mined Lines

28 Jun – Waxhoma

8 Aug – Burn Camp

13 Sep – Upper Illinois

11 Oct – Beaver Tailwater

Larry said he would serve as coordinator for the Lookout Lake outing.  The only outing that would not be a camping outing would be the Waxhoma outing.  



Bob Cunningham gave us a great presentation on his trips to boundary lakes for small mouth bass fly fishing.  Thank Bob.
